If you program a robot to kill you, you better triple check your program code to make sure he’s not gonna pistol whip your sorry face first.

An 81 year-old Australian man was shot by a suicide robot he built and activated in his driveway this morning. The man was reportedly upset that his family was forcing him to move into a retirement home, so he downloaded plans for and built a complex robot that shot him with a semi-automatic .22 caliber handgun.

There may have been other way to prove to his family that he didn’t need to go a home yet, but building an advanced robot that shoots you with a semi-automatic weapon really punctuates the point.

There could be a real future for these suicide bots, if they could speak your suicide note for you when your body is discovered, or maybe plant a bullet in whoever finds you.
